After a 35 minute boat ride from Belize City you will arrive at the Coral Gardens on the Belize Barrier Reef. At the Coral Gardens you will put on your snorkeling gear and explore the second largest barrier reef in the world. The Belize Barrier Reef had been declared a world heritage by UNESCO due to its importance to mankind. The Barrier Reef is like a huge aquarium where you can find hundreds of species of fishes, corals and crustaceans. After enjoying the kaleidoscope of color of the coral gardens it's a short five minute to the famous Shark and Ray Alley where you literally get to swim with sharks (Nurse) and sting rays.
Your guide will have bait to make sure them come close enough for you to get some interesting photographs. After spending some time with the shark and the ray we then take a five minute boat ride to the island of Caye Caulker where you get to sample some of the local cuisine and brew. You will have time to explore the island or to grab some food and then we head back to Belize City. |
